Without further ado, the most Instagrammable flowers are...

1. Roses

With over 80 million posts, roses came out head and shoulders above the competition. It's no surprise really - they're probably the most well recognised of any flower, and a mainstay of bouquets all year round.

They're incredibly versatile too; roses can suit pretty much any occasion depending on the colour and bouquet. For example, a dozen red roses is an unmistakeable declaration of love and affection, whilst a bunch of yellow or pink roses can be a lovely way to say happy birthday to friends and family.

2. Sunflowers

At a distant second place were sunflowers, with 15.5 million posts. Available in both summer and autumn, these yellow blooms radiate happiness and joy, so it's no wonder they're so popular. Plus, if you're looking for day-trip inspiration, check out the #sunflowers tag for some dreamy snaps of sunflower fields.

3. Tulips

With over 11 million posts on Instagram, tulips have earned their place as the most popular springtime flower. From colourful bouquets to fields and flower markets, you'll find photos of these gorgeous blooms all over Instagram. Available in pretty much all the colours of the rainbow, these pretty and vibrant flowers are the perfect way to welcome spring after the cold days of winter.

4. Peonies

We just can't get enough of peonies, and neither can Instagram it seems! Despite only being in season for a few short weeks every year, they're the fourth most Instagrammed flower, beating out all-year-round varieties like lilies, carnations, and chrysanthemums.

With their huge fluffy blooms and ruffled petals, they're a gorgeous statement flower and instant crowd-pleaser in late spring and summer bouquets. They're a popular choice for wedding bouquets too.

5. Lilies

Offering both style and fragrance, lilies are a natural choice in many bouquets. They're available throughout the year so you'll find plenty of photos of lily bouquets on Instagram no matter the season.
