Tomorrow welcomes the beginning of the biggest flower show in the world. From 8-13 July 2014 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show will showcase its inspiring gardens, beautiful flowers and welcome guests to explore the variety of trade stalls and market-style shopping this fabulous flower event has to offer.
A few of our lovely ladies from the Appleyard team sported some graceful and beautifully fragrant corsages hand-made by our lovely in house florist. From elegant pale yellow and white orchids and lilies (look to our Quartz bouquet for similar flowers) to pretty in pink lillies and orchids (see our Elle bouquet here), these gorgeous wrist corsages were the perfect accent for all of our ladies outfits – adding a touch of uniqueness to each ensemble.
You may or may not be aware that yesterday was day three of The Royal Ascot – otherwise known as the fabulous Ladies’ Day. This is the day where women can really show off their feminine assets and dress like true ladies. It’s certainly a fashion parade like no other that I’ve seen before.
So, as you can imagine the ladies at this formal horse racing occasion sported some truly stunning and elegant headpieces, with an equally as sophisticated outfit to match. There were those who really stood out from the crowd with heavily embellished hats towering above their heads and feathers, ribbon, flowers, you name it working as decoration.
The second annual British Flowers Week is due to kick off this coming Monday. The British Flowers Week is a week-long celebration of the wealth and variety of the best of British cut flowers and foliage. The event itself is held at the New Covent Garden Flower Market, and is a must see event if you’re a lover of flowers like we are.
In recent years, British flowers have seen a long-awaited resurgence in interest, but still over 90% of flowers sold in the UK are still imported. At Appleyard London we’re keen to support British trade and the British flower, so where possible we source our flowers from British Growers.
Royal Ascot is a huge date in the racing calendar, and an even bigger date in the fashion one. Whether you’re living it up in the Royal Enclosure, or you’re slumming it in the Grandstand, deciding what to wear is sure to give you a headache or two leading up to the first day.
Since 2012, Royal Ascot has looked to reintroduce the style befitting such a prestigious event, and as a result enforced a stricter dress code for parts of the course. If you’re thinking you might be able to ‘wing-it’ on the style front this year, think again. The course now employ a fleet of extremely well dressed fashion police that cast their discerning eye over the outfits of guests as they arrive.
Each June, the Birmingham NEC play host to one of the biggest events in the gardening calendar, Gardeners World Live!
Set over 4 days between 12th-15th June, Gardeners World Live is the ultimate celebration of summer gardening. With a range of show gardens, plant displays and gardening tips and advice from the likes of Joe Swift, Monty Don and Carol Klein there is something for everyone.
And this year, it’s bigger and better than ever!
American Actress Elle Fanning is seen sporting a crown encrusted with delicate little pink and pale yellow flowers at the recent Whimsical film premiere.
This beautiful floral accessory was the finishing touch to her matching pale yellow dress (Georges Hobeika Fall 2013 collection) and dusty pink eye shadow - a look that not many could pull off.
