What is National Gardening Week and what is it about? National Gardening Week was launched four years ago by the RHS and since then has grown into the country’s biggest celebration of gardening. Thousands of people, gardens, charities, retailers, culture and heritage organisations and groups get involved and you can too.

Godinton House Garden, Ashford, Kent, England

Gardening as a culture began in Roman times. Families wanted to improve the environment in which they lived by removing flowers and plants they didn't like and replacing them with beautiful flowers for decoration.

Having a garden is considered a huge luxury if you live in the city. If you don't have a good garden, there is always a way to find some room or window sills where you can grow flowers and plants! If you already enjoy gardening then you will know that there is nothing more exciting than growing your own beautiful flowers.

So what is so special about National Gardening Week? Well, If you admire visiting other gardens, take a look at the National Gardening Week website to see some of the many events taking part over the next week!
