Hyacinths

Hyacinths are said to symbolise peace, commitment, sincerity, and loyalty, as well as sport and play. The meaning also varies depending on the colour:

Blue Hyacinths: Sincerity, commitment, constancy

Pink Hyacinths: Joy, playfulness

White Hyacinths: Loveliness, innocence, purity, “You’re in my prayers”

Red Hyacinths: Play, fun, positivity

Purple Hyacinths: Regrets, apologies, forgiveness, devotion

Hyacinths are one of the earlier spring bloomers, with their season beginning at the end of winter and lasting until late spring.

There’s no shortage of variety with hyacinths, and they bloom in a veritable rainbow of colours, ranging from ethereal whites to deep purples. Blue hyacinths are perhaps the most famous - they’re one of the few naturally blue flowers, so if it’s your favourite colour, definitely don’t miss out! Our collection includes bouquets featuring blue, pink, and white hyacinths, both on their own, and arranged with other seasonal stems.

We send our hyacinths in bud to ensure they have the longest vase life possible. This means the colours can be a little pale at first; don’t worry, as they bloom the colours will deepen. Hyacinths also arrive with some of their bulb still intact, and unlike most of our flowers, you don’t need to trim them before placing them in water. We recommend changing the water daily for hyacinth bouquets, as the stems can release sap which can cloud the water and reduce their vase life.

As hyacinths have very full flowers, they can get top heavy once they’re fully bloomed, which can make them droop a little. If your hyacinths start to droop once they’ve bloomed, you can cut the stems short and put them in a smaller vase. A narrow vase can also help to support the stems if you’d prefer to leave them taller.
