6 Floral Trends for 2024

2024's here, and with a new year comes new trends in floral design.

From soft peach blooms to bold and dramatic bouquets, there'll be something to suit every taste!

Let's take a look at the floral trends we're expecting to be big in 2024.

Peach Fuzz

Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2024 is Peach Fuzz, a delicate, soft peach colour that evokes feelings of warmth, comfort, kindness, and optimism. It's a soothing shade that works well in free-flowing and loosely styled arrangements, or paired with other pastels for a vintage-inspired look.

There's plenty of options for flowers, with many of our favourites available in this colour. Peach roses, peonies, and carnations are our top picks - their soft, textured blooms are ideal for creating a gentle and soothing bouquet. Alternatively, opt for dried flowers like pampas grass, wheat, and bunny's tails in rose gold and peach tones to enjoy this colour for even longer.

Viva La Vida

One of the Flower Council of Holland's four predicted trends for the years, 'Viva La Vida' is all about being bold and bright, with colours like red, magenta, yellow, and orange taking centre stage. This trend's all about passion, celebration, and optimism, and vibrant, dramatic bouquets are the way to go. Tropical flowers like birds of paradise, orchids, and calla lilies are great picks here, whilst seasonal blooms like tulips and sunflowers can be perfect for embracing the trend all year round.

Meaningful Earth

The Flower Council's second trend makes Earth, biodiversity, and the environment its focus. In terms of bouquets, it's all about rustic and earthy designs - think loose, unstructured arrangements full of tumbling flowers and greenery. Unique, eye-catching shapes are great here too, so look for bouquets featuring flowers like brassicas, pin-cushions, hyacinths, and carthamus. The colour palette's very autumnal, with red, yellow, salmon, brown, and green, so autumn's an ideal time to explore this trend!

Gentle Paradox

Gentle Paradox is all about creating light, ethereal arrangements, to contrast the harder lines and structures of interiors. Round, airy blooms are the essential element here, as their soft textures and wispy edges help to create a dreamlike atmosphere. Hydrangeas, alliums, peonies, baby's breath, and stocks in neutral and pastel tones work wonderfully for this style, as do many dried flowers.

Playful Construction

The Flower Council's final trend, Playful Construction, is perfect for anyone looking for a more whimsical look. This trend's all about bright and playful designs, incorporating a wide variety of colours, round shapes, and structural elements.

Flowers like gerbera daisies, hydrangeas, dahlias, and chrysanthemums all work well here, and you can use stems like delphiniums and hyacinths to add height and vertical structure. Don't forget to be creative with your vases as well - bright, contrasting colours and unique shapes will really make your bouquet pop.

Colourful Weddings

Although white will forever be a classic choice for weddings, our wedding florist has noticed more and more people are opting for bright and bold wedding flowers. This year, expect to see vibrant orange, reds, yellows and pinks for spring and summer weddings, and rich, alluring berry tones in the autumn and winter.
