Daffodils

As one of the first heralds of spring, daffodils symbolise optimistic concepts like hope, renewal, new beginnings, and rebirth. Along with their sunny colour and joyful appearance, this makes them the perfect springtime pick-me-up. Send them to cheer someone up who’s having a tough time, say congratulations, or to celebrate spring birthdays. Their meanings of renewal and new beginnings make them perfect for Easter (especially when paired with Easter eggs!), Mother’s Day, or to welcome a new baby.

Daffodils are also the national flower of Wales, and their season matches up perfectly with St David’s Day on the 1st March. A bunch of daffodils is a great way to decorate your home to celebrate.

Daffodils are available throughout the spring, with the season usually beginning in late winter and ending in May.

We send our daffodils in bud to make sure they last as long as possible. They’ll initially be slender green buds, but your flowers will open over a few days to reveal their stunning yellow blooms. Make sure to trim the stems when they arrive and place them straight in a vase of water with flower food. Daffodil stems can give off some sap, which can make the water cloudy quickly. With this in mind, we recommend changing the water every couple of days to keep it clean, and to help your daffodils last as long as possible. It’s worth retrimming the stems when you do this, to ensure your flowers stay hydrated.
